OUR VISION

This consortium strives to model, understand, and quantify rock mechanics, fluid flow, and their interaction in porous media for petroleum reservoir development, carbon storage, and geothermal development:

  • To develop techniques for maximizing the economics of
    resource exploitation

  • To promote safety in subsurface engineering systems

  • To contribute to interdisciplinary research

OBJECTIVES FOR THE
NEXT THREE YEARS

  • Understand mechanisms of strain/strain rate responses during stimulation and production for completion and well spacing optimization.

  • Develop theories/models/tools for automatic and real-time data interpretation for distributed fiber optic strain measurements.

  • Understand complex physics of fracture propagation and fracture interactions between parent and child wells.
